Overall, this is a very nice chess set with good quality materials and a solid finish for the price. The pieces arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. My only minor observation is that one of the black knights appears to be missing a small carved detail, which may have been an artistic design choice rather than a manufacturing issue. In any case, it does not affect the appearance of the set significantly. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase

Very nice chess set with good quality materials and an excellent overall finish. The pieces feel solid and are well proportioned. The size is ideal for a 4.5 cm (1.77") square board, creating a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing setup. One thing worth mentioning is that the photos do not do the set justice. It looks much better in person, and the details, colors, and overall appearance are far more impressive than the pictures suggest. Highly recommended.

Truly beautiful chess pieces!
Crafted with extreme care; the carved knights, in particular, are absolutely uniform. The pieces are superbly polished – the ebony, in particular, really shines. Every detail on the knights has been polished to perfection. The antiqued finish is very realistic and has an attractive colour that is sure to complement many boards beautifully. Mine certainly does :-)
One minor drawback: the white pieces are in all noticeably lighter and, in some cases, uneven. E.g. the white rooks weigh 47 and 35 g, the white pawns vary by 4 g between them; the kings weigh 76 g black and 54 g white.
Playing, I deliberately paid attention to whether this actually bothered me, and it doesn’t really. So I’ve decided that this is a sign of human craftsmanship and individuality. So the pieces are already very dear to me.

Stunning to look at, but even better to play with. You can defiantly feel the quality of the pieces when you're holding them in your hand. Chess Villa doesn't mess around when they say fast delivery.
